چکیده

Hydrated sodium sulfates have been suggested to be present in variable amounts Solar System objects such as Mars and Europa, among the possible others. The presence of these hydrated species is related current/past aqueous environments, thus has an importance regarding potential habitability planetary objects. In this study, we analyzed anhydrous sulfate (thénardite) (mirabilite) by means visible-infrared reflectance spectroscopy 0.4–5 ?m spectral range, at different low temperatures between 80 298 K. Each mineral three grain sizes, 36 150 ?m. compound, thénardite, characterized a nearly flat spectrum visible near IR up 2.6 ?m, while 3–4 region, shows few weak features due H2O SO42? overtones/combinations. first strong overtone 4.6 Spectra mirabilite are substantially absorption 1–3 overtone/combination bands occurring 3.8 4.7 A feature appearing 2.18 also putatively attributed ion. show changes function temperature. hydration strongest dependence with temperature, both terms shift position change shape. Potential of vis-NIR reflectance spectroscopy for the mineralogical characterization of synthetic gleys: a preliminary investigation

An investigation was carried out aiming at assessing the potential of vis-NIR reflectance spectroscopy, through comparison with the conventional X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) technique, for the characterization of synthetic gleys, obtained in laboratory starting from Fe0 and Fe2+ under different conditions of initial pH (5.5, 7.0 and 8.5). XRPD analysis showed that in any case goethite formed...

Pear quality characteristics by Vis / NIR spectroscopy.

Recently, non-destructive techniques such as the Vis / NIR spectroscopy have been used to evaluate the characteristics of maturation and quality of pears. The study aims to validate the readings by the Vis / NIR spectroscopy as a non-destructive way to assess the qualitative characteristics of pear cultivars 'Williams', 'Packams' and 'Carrick', produced according to Brazilian conditions. The ex...

The Effects of Soil Moisture Content on Reflectance Spectra of Soils Using UV-VIS-NIR Spectroscopy

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of soil moisture content on reflectance spectra of sandy soils with different phosphorus (P) concentrations using UV-VIS-NIR reflectance spectroscopy. Sandy soils with average particle size of 250 μm were used. Investigations were conducted at 0, 12.5, 62.5, 175, 375, 750, and 1000 mg/kg phosphorus application rates. Three soil moisture conten...

Estimating Leaf Water Status from Vis-nir Reflectance and Transmittance

Remotely sensing the water status of plant canopies remains a long term goal of remote sensing research. Established approaches involve measurements in the thermal infrared and the 900-2000nm reflective infrared. Less popular UVvisible-NIR techniques presumably deserve research attention, because photochemical changes linked to plant water status manifest spectral light scattering and absorptio...
